Coastal salt air versus inland frost
Where you sit in the Bay changes what we'd put in. Down on the waterfront in Ahuriri and Westshore, the air carries salt, and that eats at cheaper outdoor units over time. We steer coastal homes toward units built to handle it and mount them with corrosion in mind.
Head inland toward the Heretaunga Plains and it's the opposite problem. Those frost pockets get properly cold on winter nights, and a unit that copes fine near the sea can struggle to pull heat out of freezing air. We size for the coldest morning, not the mild average.
